Love the warm tones of this playroom and I really like the drawing table which can be purchased of course Pottery Barn for kids. I also love how the rug ties in the geometric and colors of the room.
This playroom is simple and a great example of a creative use of space in a garage or unused space in a basement if that is possible.

My kids are big into putting things on the wall and I think this might be a great compromise and creative way to display my kids accomplishments and sentiments.

Since I have all girls I loved the colors of this playroom and the chandelier is adorable and adds a bit of sparkle.

I love this creative idea on a spool stool. I have been searching for a unique stool for my kids playroom that is both creative, functional, kid proof and this is it. The playroom is a big project and one that will take a few months but I will keep you updated.

This weekend I stumbled across this magazine in the grocery store while trying to find clever ideas to keep my kids from being bord. I thought every creative mom could use this magazine it is simple, smart, and is very applicable to a moms crazy life style!. Check it out you will surely love it and will be a highlight in your day!

This week I have been sooo grateful for the one and maybe the only creative clutter tool that I have continued throughout the year. I used black folders and labeled my children's name on them and I put important papers in them. I placed all four of my folders in my kitchen right above my phone for easy access and to remind myself to check on them often. They have come in handy! this week as year end projects and activities have come to an end . Of course everything hits all at once all this week! and so my blogs may be a bit short due to a lot of family commitments.

This week I will be giving you creative ways to keep your craft room, work space and closets functional yet have a specific style of design. Life is so very crazy!. I know that when my working spaces (especially my craft areas) are designed to keep me clutter free I am able to enjoy life more peacefuly and I find joy in my surroundings. Good luck and be creative!
Love the use of vintage glass wear! The mix of clear and milk glass adds interest and a touch of class to any space that needs a new look and a bit of orginzational help. This tip is a great design to add to a computer desk, craft room or a bathroom with toiletries.

What a creative way to display small desk items e-mail me on the How To's for this project. I love the use of glass because it doesn't compete with the colors and keeps it simple and very cost effective.

Need a place to store your craft supplies take an old armoire and add a bold color of paint and distress it (which is a great thing to do if you need to get some pent up energy out!) and voila. What a creative way to add texture to add baskets on the top and to also store larger items that can't fit in a tidy little can/file box or Tupperware.
This is a wonderful example of how to use the shabby chic in an office/craft space. If I had a place like this one I would definitely have plenty of resources to get my creative mind going with all those ribbons! yeah! a great place for inspiration.

I love the use of this Armoire and how they utilized the insides of the doors . The two tone color is wonderful got to love white and black it adds a bold statement and is a forever "in" color.

I had a wonderful Mothers Day! and so I am deviating from the montly topic to brag about my weekend shared with my daughter who got baptized. It was a beautiful event and decorating success! and one that I must share for all those that want to see my latest project and event.
Thanks for visiting my blog and please feel free to leave a comment or ask any decorating question to Natalie at nboman@msn.com.
Have a great day and may it be inspired with creativity and fun!
The inspiration and or story behind this event was ...I was picking my kids up from school one afternoon and I saw these beautiful green flowers in my neighbors yard and I thought to my self "that's it" I just had to use those flowers at my next event and so it began.

The color of the event was soft green, white and tan. My table linens were recycled damask drapes it added contrast and texture. The place settings were white doily placemats, white plates that had a peril design, and a green floral napkin which all added a feminine cottage feel. The center pieces were a small grouping; White antique doily, a picture of my daughter in her beautiful white baptism dress (I also added a green ribbon on the frame for color and flair), placed in a simple clear cup was the inspired bunch of green flowers tied with a lace ribbon, and a glass vase that held white dinner mints and a green thank you note to all our guests.

The food was a hit! I made sausage and bacon quiche, muffins, fancy breads with butter and fresh fruit. The serving table was very eye catching with all the color and aroma. I used a three ti ere platter and tied various ribbons on the top for color and focal point. In the center of the table I used an antique doily table runner and also placed a single tied ribbon down the center to again draw your eye towards all the different choices of food. I used the placesetting floral napkin and paper doily under each serving dish for added color and interest.
I loved preparing for this event and it was a simple success. The food was delicious and the guest were relaxed and the colors were beautiful! it added a special touch to the day!

I started this traditional gift with my first daughter that is to make a quilt for their baptism day. I used a local embroidery company to embroider my daughters name and special day of the event this adds a personal touch and my daughter loved it! and the tradition will continue I have two more to go.

I used five different 6x6 fabrics to complete my quilt and also backed and bind ed it with a soft dot (of course) chenille and tied it with a simple white sheer ribbon. My daughters comment was that she was glad that the back was soft so that she can snuggle up and get cozy in it.

This is a complete look of the quilt. I loved using all white fabrics it went well with the theme of the event. I also decided to not go too traditional and added three texture fabrics to add interest and warmth. This is a great gift idea for a special occasion but FYI it does take some prep time and some experience in sewing and a great deal of patience.

This Laundry room is a wonderful use of space!. If you don't have the budget for built in cabinets or are lacking space this is a great way to stay organized and to still have a classy and clean look. I love the use of the color in the background this helps add contrast.

The use of an old doll house as a shelf is clever! the doll house is a focal point of the room and I am glad to see that the rest of the colors are neutral so that the doll house can make a statement. Once again a good treasure! put to great use.

I love this display of old photos and I think antiques are a great place in the laundry room. Another Idea would be to display your child's art work or special letters.

Need a new look in your laundry room add a bold color on your cabinets. I love the use of the cool colors; blue on the cabinets, silver washer and dryer and the floors are a gray white wash what a great look.

This is a great way to update a laundry room by adding a shelf as a crown molding and the colored verticle strips on the wall help add height and warmth to a small space.

This laundry room is a beautiful solution to a small space. By adding the desk over top of the washer it helps give the space organizational items above and below and a much needed folding table. The ironing board is the focal point on the wall and adds texture with the printed fabric. The shelf on the right is needed for balance and texture and more areas for organization.

Most often the Laundry room is used for dual purposes. I love the use of shelves from wall to wall above the washer and dryer. Laundry rooms are a great place to put those extra pictures, antiques or collections. I love the idea of curtains to hide the washer and dryer I think I might try this maybe I would like to do the laundry..not likely.

I don't want to hide away my collection of books and so I have decided to give some ideas on beautiful ways to store a book collection and to make a library whether it be small or large. Here are a few pictures that will get your creative minds going! Also a helpful tip...when displaying books take the jacket off to reveal its natural form and color. Your friend Creative Dot Mom

I love the use of soft pale color tones. This vinyette looks great because the placement of the books by color and by adding a few large decorative items to keep simplicity.
I think it is a brilliant idea to make a comfy reading corner in every home this encourages reading together as a family.
I love the placement of this book library as a backdrop behind a beautiful black grand piano this just reads art!. I also love the use of the tall ladder It gives it a regal antique feel.

This is a clever way to encourage reading in a teenagers room to place there reading books as a crown molding and then to add a shelve on the wall as well to tie in the theme of this room. What a smart kid!
Favorite! I love this modern twist to the traditional look of a book shelve. You can achieve this look with the help once again of IKEA. I think this would look fantastic also in a small grouping of three if you are short on space.

This book shelve is a great way to use space. This grouping works well in a room to add width and depth the key is to use these shelves in a grouping of three. I have used this look many times. This is my favorite shelve to use because it is a good way to maximize height with out adding bulk to the room and the design lends it self to many storage options it is particualy a great use in a child's room or a play room.

This is a custom book shelve that you would need to hire out but you could still accomplish this by purchasing two tall shelves and adding doors and adding a unique background color.

This is a wonderful idea to do with a child's room or even in a hall way. You can purchase this through Martha Stewart.com.

Free standing shelves are a simple look and are quit easy to find at your local hardware store. If you are going to use this idea the key is to incorporate it within a grouping and to use two or three shelves if use three find a larger art work to add on the sides to balance the height.

This is another IKEA product and I think this is a great way to use wall space and to accomplish organizing your books. This is a very versatile piece of furniture and can be arrange in many different groupings.
I picked this picture to show that the bookshelf can be placed to imitate that of a picture. This is accomplished by picking a loud color as the shelve and a complimentary color to add on the wall color.

I loved this picture because a lot of times in homes with high ceilings there is wasted space. This is great use of space and of course love the ladder.

Last but not least I love this idea! these are not just bookshelves but are antique planter box's that adhere to this cabinet. Get creative and find those rare decorative finds!

I enjoy the treasure hunt for the perfect decorative and unique storage containers. Here are a few pictures that will get your creative minds going! Please feel free to leave a comment or a decorating question to Natalie at natalieboman@gmail.com. Have a great day and get creating!
This is a beautiful way to display bathroom necessities I think that I might just stay for some R&R looks peaceful!

Here is the use of decorative tins in a table setting. A nice country french look! The use of color and texture is wonderful!

You can take tin canisters and add decorative paper on to it to make it new and fresh. I think that these canisters would look great not only in the kitchen but in the art room. Love the black and white!

This is a new way to display notes and important papers. Take an old picture frame or a new cork board and try adding a decorative wall paper to it to give it texture and design. This looks like a designer trick! plus I am tired of my magnet board that every one seems to have, I'm going to get creative!

Don't throw out a good shirt box put some decorative paper on it or even fabric and add a few embellishments like bows, buttons, or flowers and you have a creative storage solution and you've gone green.

I enjoy going to antique or second hand stores for old and unique things like this tray table. What a great use on the edge of your nightstand or on a foot stool or even in a bathroom.

A inexpensive storage container...take a metal tin and recover it with wall paper or decorative paper or even add love notes from your kids or any other important papers. E-mail me if you would like the specifics on this project.

This picture reminds me of my endless playing in my grandma's closet with dress ups and old shoes. Take an old vintage suit case and put add some fabric and ribbon and you have a new case for scrapbook supplies, office supplies, or sewing kit the possibilities are endless.
I love to use baskets in all areas of my home to collect clutter or sometimes I even have a specific purpose. This is a beautiful way to dress up the basic basket.

I love this picture because of the tags on the baskets I think I will use this technique to help my kids know what the purpose of the baskets in my home are used for. I also like the contrast of hat box's and tins that add color and contrast.

This is very organized way to hide clutter and all of these items can be found at IKEA which is my favorite store for decorative storage ideas.

April Theme Creative Wall Designs
I will finish this month with great finds on creative ways to display plates. My father use to travel quite often when I was a child and one of the beautiful things that he brought back from his travels was a set of plates from Russia this was my inspiration. May you find those treasures that tell a story and find a creative way to display it in your home. Please feel free to leave a comment or a decorating question to Natalie at natalieboman@gmail.com. Have a wonderful weekend! your friend, Creative Dot Mom
The theme for May will be Creative Clutter...how to organize and display your clutter. I will begin this topic on Monday.
Of course I found a plate that has polka dots... yeah! and it's pink even better. This would be a darling idea for a girls room. I love the use of colors and the details in the plates and also the simplicity of the accessories on the tray table.

I love this use of wall rack I suppose you would just have to have really clean plates to use on this display (may not work in my house). The use of a towel and the print adds a focal point, texture and interest.

Doesn't every one have a set of blue plates this is a must in every kitchen. Get them out of the cupboard and on to the wall. Michele I think of you on this one.

These are a few of my favorite things I enjoy this saying since I once played Maria in the Sound of Music and that was my favorite song. This is a clever way to arrange these plates around the end table it reminds me of a arranging flowers.

What a beautiful grouping of plates. The theme is nature and animals. This arrangement is very symmetrical with the use of color, and the style is very specific.
